What happens to the subtitle tracks in my WebM file?

They are dropped. MPG has no soft-subtitle stream to hold them, and the converter neither burns them into the picture nor exports them as a separate file. If you need them, extract the subtitles to an .srt file with a desktop tool such as ffmpeg or MKVToolNix before converting, and load that file alongside the MPG in your player. MPG inherits every MPEG-2 limitation — heavy bitrate, interlacing, no soft subtitles — plus the confusion of two extensions for one format.
Can the MPG hold more than one audio track?

Yes, and it is a real upgrade over WebM. MPG treats every audio stream as a first-class track, so an original-language mix, a dub and a director commentary can live in one file with the player switching between them on demand. MPG is the extension DVD authoring software, older camcorders and broadcast ingest tools recognise, so it stays useful for those pipelines.
Can I still embed the file on a web page after converting WebM to MPG?

Not directly. WebM plays inline in every browser; MPG does not, so a page embedding it falls back to a download link or an empty player frame. If the file is destined for a website, keep the WebM for the web and treat the MPG as the archive or editing copy.
Why would I convert WebM to an older format like MPG?
