AV1 to MOV Conversion FAQ
How do I convert an AV1 file to MOV?
+
Upload your AV1 file using the picker above and the converter detects the source type and runs the AV1 → MOV pipeline. The result downloads automatically when conversion completes; no account needed for one-off conversions.
Can I still embed the file on a web page after converting AV1 to MOV?
+
Not directly. AV1 plays inline in every browser; MOV does not, so a page embedding it falls back to a download link or an empty player frame. If the file is destined for a website, keep the AV1 for the web and treat the MOV as the archive or editing copy. MOV files are large, and outside the Apple ecosystem playback support is patchier than MP4 — older Android builds and some Smart TVs will refuse them.
Is MOV a container or a codec, and does that change what I get back?
+
It changes what to expect from the output file. One side of this conversion names an encoding rather than a wrapper, so what comes back is that bitstream inside whichever container suits it best — normally MP4 or MKV. The extension reflects the container; the codec is what actually determined the file size and where it will play. AV1 is a codec, not a container — the bitstream normally travels inside MP4 or WebM, paired with Opus or AAC audio. A MOV normally carries H.264 or HEVC for delivery, or ProRes when it is an editing master, alongside AAC or uncompressed PCM audio.
Is the AV1 to MOV converter free?
+
Yes — basic AV1 → MOV conversion is free with no registration. Premium adds higher per-file size limits, more parallel batch workers, and removes ads.
How big an AV1 file can I convert to MOV?
+
Free accounts: up to 100 MB per AV1 file. Premium: typically 1 GB per file, depending on the AV1 source type. Very large files are split into chunks server-side when the MOV format allows.
Will conversion change the content of my AV1?
+
Conversion preserves all information that both AV1 and MOV can represent. Format-specific features that the MOV format doesn't support (e.g. vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output) are rasterized or stripped — see the format-specific notes on the result page.
Can I convert many AV1 files to MOV at once?
+
Yes — drop multiple AV1 files into the upload zone and they are queued in parallel. Premium has more parallel workers; on a 50-file batch this is the difference between minutes and seconds.
Does the AV1 to MOV converter work on phones and tablets?
+
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
Which browsers does the AV1 to MOV converter support?
+
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses standard `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependencies — so even older browsers work.
Are my AV1 files kept private?
+
Yes — uploaded AV1 files are processed in isolated workers and deleted within minutes. We never view, retain, or share content. See /privacy/ for the data-retention window.
What if the MOV download doesn't start automatically?
+
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network fails mid-download, you can re-trigger from the result page without re-uploading the AV1.
How long does AV1 to MOV conversion take?
+
Typically seconds for small files, a minute or two for files near the size cap. Server-side pipeline runs on dedicated workers — your laptop CPU isn't the bottleneck.
