EPUB to CBZ Conversion FAQ
How do I convert an EPUB file to CBZ?
+
Upload your EPUB file using the picker above and the converter detects the source type and runs the EPUB → CBZ pipeline. The result downloads automatically when conversion completes; no account needed for one-off conversions.
Will the text still reflow to my screen after converting EPUB to CBZ?
+
No — this conversion pins the layout. An EPUB adapts its line breaks to whatever width and font size the reader is using; the CBZ fixes page geometry at conversion time, so on a phone you get the whole page scaled down rather than text rewrapped to the screen. That is the right trade when the layout must not move, and the wrong one when the file is for reading on a small device. EPUB reflows text to any screen size and any font size, which is what makes it readable on a phone as well as an e-reader. CBZ is a Comic Book ZIP — the same idea as CBR but built on the open ZIP format instead of RAR.
Will the converted book keep its cover, chapters and table of contents?
+
Yes where both formats can express them. Cover art, chapter divisions and a navigable table of contents are structural metadata, so they carry across rather than being flattened into the text. Footnotes and index entries are the fragile parts — they degrade into inline text on targets with no anchor mechanism.
Why does my EPUB file refuse to convert?
+
DRM, in almost every case. A protected EPUB is encrypted and tied to an account, and no converter can decrypt it — ours included. Files you created yourself, or bought from a DRM-free store, convert without any trouble at all. EPUB has no fixed pagination, so page numbers are meaningless, and complex layout — tables, equations, multi-column — degrades badly.
How are the comic pages ordered in the output?
+
By filename, which is how every comic archive works — the pages are images in an archive and the reader sorts them lexically. Zero padding therefore matters: page10 sorts before page2 unless the numbers are padded out. The converter preserves the source ordering rather than re-sorting it.
Is the EPUB to CBZ converter free?
+
Yes — basic EPUB → CBZ conversion is free with no registration. Premium adds higher per-file size limits, more parallel batch workers, and removes ads.
How big an EPUB file can I convert to CBZ?
+
Free accounts: up to 100 MB per EPUB file. Premium: typically 1 GB per file, depending on the EPUB source type. Very large files are split into chunks server-side when the CBZ format allows.
Will conversion change the content of my EPUB?
+
Conversion preserves all information that both EPUB and CBZ can represent. Format-specific features that the CBZ format doesn't support (e.g. vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output) are rasterized or stripped — see the format-specific notes on the result page.
Can I convert many EPUB files to CBZ at once?
+
Yes — drop multiple EPUB files into the upload zone and they are queued in parallel. Premium has more parallel workers; on a 50-file batch this is the difference between minutes and seconds.
Does the EPUB to CBZ converter work on phones and tablets?
+
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
Which browsers does the EPUB to CBZ converter support?
+
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses standard `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependencies — so even older browsers work.
Are my EPUB files kept private?
+
Yes — uploaded EPUB files are processed in isolated workers and deleted within minutes. We never view, retain, or share content. See /privacy/ for the data-retention window.
