How do I extract the cover from an EPUB file as SVG?

Upload the EPUB and the converter detects the cover image (usually flagged in the OPF as `cover-image`) and returns it as an SVG. By default we serve the cover at its embedded resolution; the advanced "resize" option lets you target a specific width like 400×600 for a thumbnail grid.
Will the SVG open directly in a browser?

Yes, and the EPUB would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for SVG and none for EPUB, so an EPUB link forces a download while an SVG renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. SVG renders perfectly at any size, stays editable, is searchable and diffable as plain text, and is usually a fraction of the size of an equivalent PNG.
How are the pages of a reflowable book turned into fixed images?

By rendering them at a chosen page size first, because a reflowable book has no inherent pages — the reader creates them from screen width and font size. The converter picks a standard page geometry, lays the text out onto it, and renders each resulting page as one image. Change the page size and you get a different number of images from the same book.
Does the SVG output support transparency?

The format does, but the source has no alpha to give it — video frames and rendered pages are fully opaque by nature, so every pixel arrives solid. The alpha channel is still useful afterwards: it means you can cut a subject out of the SVG later without changing format again.
How big will the SVG files be?

Larger than you might expect, because SVG keeps every pixel exactly rather than approximating. A 1080p still lands around 2-5 MB and a 4K still around 6-15 MB, so a long extraction run adds up quickly. That is the right trade when the images feed further processing, and the wrong one when they are going straight onto a web page. An SVG stores shapes as mathematical paths and text as text, not as pixels, so it is a document rather than a raster grid.
Why does my EPUB file refuse to convert?

DRM, in almost every case. A protected EPUB is encrypted and tied to an account, and no converter can decrypt it — ours included. Files you created yourself, or bought from a DRM-free store, convert without any trouble at all. EPUB has no fixed pagination, so page numbers are meaningless, and complex layout — tables, equations, multi-column — degrades badly.
Can I convert only part of the EPUB instead of all of it?

Yes — the page-range option takes `1-5`, `1,3,5` or `all`, so a single chapter, an appendix or just the cover can be extracted without processing the rest. On a long document that is the difference between a handful of files and several hundred.
Can I render every page of the EPUB as an SVG?

Yes — switch the advanced option from "cover only" to "all pages" and we rasterize each EPUB page to an SVG at the chosen DPI, then bundle them in a zip. Reflowable EPUB pages render at a fixed page size (A5 / 6×9 / custom) before rasterization.
At what resolution does the extracted SVG come out?

Default is 1600×2400 (high-res cover suitable for retailer upload). Advanced options expose 600×900 (web thumbnail), 1200×1800 (Kindle store cover), 1600×2400 (Apple Books / Kobo), and custom dimensions for ad creatives.
Will the SVG keep the EPUB cover color profile?

Yes — ICC profile embedded in the EPUB cover (if any) is preserved into the SVG. Most retailer-uploaded ebook covers ship as sRGB, which the SVG keeps. For print-ready CMYK output, use a separate /image-to-cmyk/ step after extraction.
Can I extract specific pages of the EPUB as SVG, not just the cover?

Yes — the page-range advanced option accepts inputs like `1,3,5` or `10-15` to pick which rendered EPUB pages get turned into SVG files. Useful for grabbing illustrations or pull-quotes for marketing.
Why is my extracted SVG cover blurry or low-res?

The EPUB contained a low-resolution cover. Many older ebooks ship with 600×900 or smaller cover JPGs — upscaling makes them softer, not sharper. For marketing assets, source the high-res cover from the publisher rather than upscaling the in-book copy.
