DOC to ZIP Conversion FAQ

Is the DOC to ZIP converter free?
+
Yes. One conversion an hour is free, with no account needed, for a file within the free size limit. A paid plan removes the hourly limit and the size limit, and lets you add several files to one job.
It opens everywhere, but it is a compatibility choice rather than a good one. The binary formats predate the XML packages, carry macro payloads that many mail servers strip on sight, and are being steadily deprecated by Microsoft itself. Use them when a specific piece of old software demands them, and the XML format otherwise. ZIP’s per-file compression is less efficient than solid archives, and it stores no useful metadata about what the files are.
A lot, unusually. A DOC stores its content with little or no compression of its own, so there is a great deal of repetition left for the archive to collapse — reductions of half to nine tenths are ordinary rather than remarkable, and the effect grows with the number of similar files packed together. It is lossless either way: what comes back out is byte-for-byte what went in. A DOC is an OLE compound-file structure, with the document body, formatting and any embedded objects stored as binary streams.
Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses standard `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependencies — so even older browsers work.
Yes. Uploaded DOC files are processed on our own servers and are never viewed or shared. Uploads and results are deleted automatically about 24 hours after conversion. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network fails mid-download, you can re-trigger from the result page without re-uploading the DOC.
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.

DOC

DOC files are Microsoft Word files that include rich text formatting, images, and tables.

ZIP

ZIP is a widely used compression and archive format. ZIP files group a variety of files and folders into a single compressed file, reducing storage space and facilitating easier distribution. They are commonly used for file compression and data archiving.
