Yes where both formats can express them. Cover art, chapter divisions and a navigable table of contents are structural metadata, so they carry across rather than being flattened into the text. Footnotes and index entries are the fragile parts — they degrade into inline text on targets with no anchor mechanism.

Will the TXT open directly in a browser?

Yes, and the MOBI would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for TXT and none for MOBI, so a MOBI link forces a download while a TXT renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application.

Why does my MOBI file refuse to convert?

DRM, in almost every case. A protected MOBI is encrypted and tied to an account, and no converter can decrypt it — ours included. Files you created yourself, or bought from a DRM-free store, convert without any trouble at all. Amazon stopped accepting MOBI for new publishing in 2022, and the format cannot express modern CSS, embedded fonts or fixed layout.

Does the TXT keep chapter structure from the MOBI?

Yes — chapter starts in the MOBI (signaled by epub:type="chapter" or h1 / h2 headings) become TXT Heading 1 styles, ready for outline view or automatic TOC regeneration via Word's built-in tools.

Will italics / bold / blockquotes survive going from MOBI to TXT?

Yes — inline character runs (italic, bold, underline, strikethrough, superscript, subscript) all map to TXT character formatting. Blockquotes become TXT "Quote" style; bullet and numbered lists become real TXT list elements (not just indented text).

Are images from the MOBI embedded in the TXT?

Yes — every illustration in the MOBI is extracted as PNG / JPG and embedded inline in the TXT at the same anchor point as the original. Word / Pages / LibreOffice render them inline; you can right-click to resize or replace each one.

Can I edit the TXT and reconvert it back to ebook?

Will the TXT include the cover image from the MOBI?
