Convert PSD to BMP

They are flattened, permanently, into one composited image. Blend modes, masks, adjustment layers and editable text are all resolved into final pixels because BMP has no structure to hold them. Keep the PSD as the working master and treat the BMP strictly as an export. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised. BMP is gigantic — a 12-megapixel photo is around 36 MB — and no browser treats it as a sane web format.

No — BMP has no alpha channel, so transparent regions are composited against a background colour, white unless you change it. That is the single most common surprise in this conversion: a logo that looked clean on a dark page arrives with a white box around it. Set the matte colour to match wherever the image will sit, or choose a target that keeps alpha.

It is converted to sRGB, because BMP has no CMYK mode. For screen use that is exactly what you want. For commercial print it is not — the gamut shift changes how saturated colours reproduce on press, so send the printer the original PSD rather than the BMP.

No pixel data, no. Both formats store the image without lossy compression, so the picture that comes out is identical to the one that went in and the conversion can be repeated indefinitely. What changes is file size, and which features travel — colour depth, embedded profiles, layers and animation are all supported unevenly between lossless formats. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements. BMP usually stores completely uncompressed pixel rows with a small header, which is why it is so simple to parse.

Transparency survives when going to PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background — if you need transparency, target a transparency-aware format instead of BMP.

Embedded ICC color profiles are read from the source PSD and re-attached to the BMP output where the format supports it (JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP). Formats without profile support fall back to sRGB.

Camera EXIF (ISO, shutter, lens, GPS) is preserved by default during PSD → BMP conversion when both formats support metadata. Use the privacy option to strip metadata before download if you want to share images without geolocation.

Default behaviour is 1:1 — your BMP output has the same pixel dimensions as the source PSD. Use a separate /resize-image/ step after conversion if you need to downscale or upscale as part of the workflow.

For JPG / WebP, quality 75-85 typically gets the file 60-80% smaller than the source PSD with no visible difference at normal viewing distance. For lossless targets (PNG, TIFF), expect smaller savings — usually 5-30% via better deflate / LZW compression.
